Mean d(2) and divergence time: transformations and standardizations.
The fitness consequences of inbreeding and outbreeding have intrigued biologists for a long time. Recently a measure of relatedness of parental haplotypes has been proposed called mean d(2). This measure is based on a stepwise mutational process and therefore is tailored to microsatellite genetic markers. Theoretical work suggests that mean d(2) typically is less suited for measuring fitness co...
متن کاملApproximation of the integral mean divergence and f-Divergence via mean results
Results involving the approximation of the difference between two integral means are utilised to obtain bounds on the Integral Mean Divergence and the f−divergence due to Csiszár. The current work does not restrict the functions involved to be convex. If convexity is imposed then the Integral Mean Divergence is the Hermite-Hadamard divergence introduced by Shioya and Da-te.
متن کاملOn Mean Divergence Measures
Abstract. Arithmetic, geometric and harmonic means are the three classical means famous in the literature. Another mean such as square-root mean is also known. In this paper, we have constructed divergence measures based on nonnegative differences among these means, and established an interesting inequality by use of properties of Csiszár’s f-divergence. An improvement over this inequality is a...
متن کاملCharacterization of mean transformations
The mean transformations M(A,B) are linear mappings and they are analogues of the matrix means of A,B ≥ 0. They are defined by operator monotone functions. In this paper several properties are described and a part of them characterize the concept. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification. Primary 26E60; Secondary 15A45.
متن کاملOn information value and mean-preserving transformations
The methods of defining and evaluating evolution of information in economic systems are often based on abstract measuretheoretic mean-preserving transformations (MPTs), also known as second-order stochastic dominance. This study first points out that such abstract MPTs have distributional equivalents and then shows that the distributional MPTs often provide analytical settings that are more acc...
